SSC CGL 2014 Revised Exam Pattern | New Exam Scheme

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to make a little change in the exam pattern for ‘SSC CGL 2014′ . Without prolonging the recruitment cycle and without any drastic modification of the existing scheme, SSC is planning to revise its exam pattern for combined graduate level examination on the recommendation of 2nd Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) .

In the new scheme, there will be a short descriptive paper also for candidates who qualify in Tier-II of the Examination . More details are below; Let us take a look at the complete new exam pattern for SSC CGL 2014 :-

Stages

Basically there are three Tiers/Stages in this Examination :-

Tier -I Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -II Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -III Personality Test /Interview/Computer Proficiency
Test or Skill Test (wherever applicable).

 

Tier -I Exam

A purely objective type test which is compulsory for all the posts .

  • Total Marks/Questions – 200 Marks/Questions
  • Total Duration – 2 Hours
  • Number of Parts – 4 Parts Carrying Equal Number of Question/ Marks (50)

The four parts of Tier -I exam are following :-

Subject Marks/Questions
General Intelligence + Reasoning 50
General Awareness 50
Quantitative  Aptitude 50
English Comprehension 50

Note :- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the above exam . It means one mark will be deducted from your total score for every four wrong answers .

Tier -II Exam

This is the second stage of the exam and only those candidates who qualify the first stage (Tier -I) , will be allowed to sit in this exam . It is also a objective type test and compulsory for all the posts .There will be two papers in this stage :-

Paper 1

  • Total Number of Questions –  100 Questions
  • Total Marks –  200 Marks
  • Total Duration –  2 Hours

This paper will be purely based on Quantitative Abilities. And the negative marking in this paper is 0.50 marks for each wrong answer i.e. You will loss 1 mark with 2 wrong answers .

Paper 2

  • Total Marks –  200 Marks
  • Total Duration –  2 Hours

This paper will be purely based on English Language & Comprehension. And the negative marking in this paper is 0.25 marks for each wrong answer i.e. You will loss 1 mark with 4 wrong answers .

Hence the Total Marks For Tier -II Exam – 400 Marks

Special Case :-

There is a new paper for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II & Compiler, Paper 3 of Statistics carrying 200 marks . So,

The total marks for a Statistical Investigator Grade-II & Compiler posts in Tier -II Exam – 600 Marks

Descriptive Paper

This is a newly added section in this examination (SSC CGL 2014); In this section there will be a short descriptive paper for all the qualified candidates in Tier II exam .

  • The paper will be of 1 hour duration .
  • The paper will be of qualify nature i.e. no marks will be awarded for this exam .
  • The paper will be based on questions drawn from subjects; English Language and Comprehension, Quantitative Abilities and General Awareness .
  • If adequate infrastructure with reliable real time connectivity is available, at least in the Regional Headquarters and Lucknow, the Commission will at its option, change this to an online examination.

 

Tier -III Exam

It is basically a Personality Test /Interview/Computer Proficiency Test or Skill Test .

Interview/Personality Test

There will be a interview/personality test for some selected posts . Maximum 100 marks will be awarded in the interview .

There is no interview for the post of Auditor, Accountant/ Junior Accountant, UDC, Tax Assistant, Compiler . 

Skill Test

  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for post of  Assistant in CSS only .
  • Data Entry Skill Test at Speed of 8000 key depression per hour for post of Tax Assistant ( Central Excise & Income Tax).

Note – Both the tests are of qualify nature and no marks will be awarded in this test .

Total Marks

  • Posts for which Interview is prescribed – 700 Marks
  • Posts for which no Interview is prescribed  -  600 Marks
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II – 900 Marks
  • Compiler - 800 Marks
